The film above is titled “Grandma’s House.” It’s an 8mm recording of my childhood home in Capital Hill. Our home was sold in 2008, after gentrification profoundly affected Washington, DC. This footage was taken in 2017, when my family and former neighbors gathered for my cousin’s hair documentary which turned into a community reunion, capturing the final moments of this neighborhood as a Black community.

Deeply immersed in the nuances of black documentary aesthetics; my work stands firmly rooted in the venerable tradition of grand photographic realism. I approach my craft with ‘critical compassion’ — the art of discerning and assessing issues, while infusing every frame with compassion and love. ~ Beverly Price
